Lint and smears with Zeiss Lens Cleaning Cloths

Some time ago I bought 2 boxes of the lens cleaning cloths.  The pre-moistened, individually packaged ones.  Convenient for carrying in the camera bag and in my pocket I figured.  From the beginning they always left lint on the lens.  I had to follow up with a blower and microfiber cloth to get rid of the lint.

Today while working on some night images I noticed a smear.  It was in the same place on sefveral shots so I grabed the lens a looked.  Actually for the first time I used a magnifying glass to examine the lens (filter in this case).  Holy cow! The glass was full of streaks and smears.  I went through several Zeiss wipes and only rearranged the smears.  I could not remove them.

I looked at the glass on several other lenses and saw the same streaking.  Looks like I have to re-think my lens care.  After researching online I did find one review of a lens cleaning liquid where the buyer said he purchased it because his Zeiss solution left streaks on his glass.  OK, time to order new microfiber cloths, blowers, brushes and cleaning liquids.  Right, the liquid is all I really need.  But, all the other stuff is getting pretty old (some dating back to the 70′s) and worn so why not pick up new stuff?

I curious if other’s have experienced this lint and smearing with the Zeiss products.  Leave a comment with your thoughts and experiences with lens cleaning products if you like.
