Testing the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 AT-X PRO lens

Notes and images from testing the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 AT-X PRO lens for Nikon.

The new lens arrived today.  I haven’t had much time to check it out yet but my first impression is that the glass is clear!  I mean, images look sharp like I remember they used to when I shot film with expensive glass.

This is an iris (I think) shot from about 1 foot away.  Focal length was 16mm. 1/200 of a second at f 4.5.  Both images are from the same raw file.  I’m pleased that the enlargement retained much of the sharpness and quality of the raw image.

It is an AWESOME lens at a great price!

UPDATE

I snuck away for a few days and gave the lens a workout.  Here are some images.
